Rick Ross the Bawse

I love good music therefore I appreciate artists that make good music. I like Rick Ross. I understand that he was a C.O. and that the coke stories are closer to fabrication than to actual facts but still, I like Rick Ross music. That cat has a great ear for picking tracks and he rhyme's very well. (And for the record, not Biggie or Pun well, but well.) Over the years I have come to over stand two very important things that I'd like to share about music. 1) Most artists are not the people you actually envision them to be. However some are i.e., Redman (Duke is a bit touched). 2) And the interpretation of music is subjective. We took Luthor music one way and by all accounts it may have been meant in a totally different way than my once filthy mind took it. (R.I.P). Meaning, that some times based on our experiences, we may feel or hear some things in music that the artist that created it may have never intended or felt themselves. Now, I don't know Rick Ross but I know I saw a picture of him graduating as a C.O. during a time when he was supposed to be getting in. Maybe he was and was doing his part as a C.O. for his crew, not sure. And I actually I don't care. Art to me is when life and creativity connect and for some the balance is swung more to the creative side than to other. Then you have the Jeezy's and the Clipse's of the world that break the dope game down so clear that you know that had to have either been though it themselves or a fly on trap house wall. Scarface is another. They found a way to balance the art and creativity which I love about them as artists. But in some ways art is art. It either entertains you or it doesn't. An regardless of his background, I like Rick Ross. And when you think about, how many of us still love "Turn off the Lights" ...and look at what we know about Teddy P.
