Born in Gastonia, NC, Polaris InI, aka P - InI is the epitome of a southern lyricist. On the level of other versatile emcees like Talib Kweli, Ludacris and Nas, Polaris portrays the realities of his existence through articulate, thought provoking lyrics that manage to meld the life of the artist with the lives of his’ listeners.
P – InI’s love affair with Hip-Hop began when he was introduced to the culture at a very young age. By the age of 15, Polaris, then known as Lord Adagio, made his first professional recording, "The Phunkadelic Mizfit”.
After graduating from high school, P – InI enrolled at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While at UNCC, Polaris, then known by his attribute Universal, performed with notable stars and battled all comers while amassing a solid fan base and numerous flawless victories. In 1998, Polaris graduated from UNCC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a rekindled love for music.
Around this time the battle - tested emcee began to hone his warrior-like, freestyle technique into songs overflowing with intelligence, humor, fact and fiction. In the winter of 2000, this became the foundation for Polaris' debut album "Great Expectations Vol. 1 My Pain, My Heart, My Pen..."
Over the years, P-InI continued to hone his skills using his amazing ability to create vivid pictures of a phenomenally wide range of subject matter. With lyrics that are the equivalent of constant news reports on the human race, P - InI has evolved and is now is poised to etch his name into the annals of Hip-Hop history. One Download at a time!

I know very little about NC rap, besides Petey Pablo which this is not!! The hidden song is a gem that should not be hidden. Both of the cats on that song let you hear the emotion in their voices. Corporate America is an amazing song from the track to the lyrics.Don't Say a Word, Imitation of Life - excellent. This is a prety damn good cd.

EMOTIONAL. . .the one word that comes to mind while listening to this CD. Whether furiously battle rhyming, conveying struggles, describing love won/lost, or reflecting on the past, it becomes evident that Polaris has poured his soul into his efforts. I was not listening to glorified stories of violence, mayhem or partying as I have become accustomed to. Polaris comes across simply as a storyteller, revealing his life. . .This is real. Lyrically? Polaris stands on his own with his unique delivery and style. He has the ability to compact paragraphs worth of information into few words so listen carefully to fully enjoy. Multiple listenings are almost demanded by this disc. . .That doesn't mean you can't just sit back and chill, or cruise down the street with his CD in the deck. . .You can enjoy the tight, original production and Polaris' lyricism on many levels. . . Bottom line: Do yourself a favor, at least check the sample tracks posted. . .Then pick up the CD. You will not be disappointed! I'm definitely not, his CD has found it's way into my heavy rotation. . .Support true hip-hop!
